When we talk about self-esteem, we are generally referring to the opinion we have of ourselves, our worth, and the value we have as people.
We all have strengths within. We may not always see or feel them, but they are there. We can often recognize them in others, but struggle when it comes to ourselves. Hopefully, over time we can all learn to love and accept ourselves more and embrace our strengths, abilities, and potential.
Self-esteem plays a significant role in our psychological well-being and can affect all aspects of our day-to-day lives, including how we think, feel and behave. When we feel good about ourselves we can accomplish almost anything. Conversely, when we regularly compare and criticize ourselves to others we can feel as though we are unable to accomplish anything.
In the words of Aristotle “knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” If we STOP and REFLECT on the skills, knowledge, experience, wisdom, and resilience that we obtain and utilize when we face such adversities, we will be amazed by the amount of strengths that we have within.
