Being there for someone.
Not solving the complex problems.
Not dispensing wisdom.
Not filling the space with stories of what happened to you.
Just sitting with. Reminding them you’re here. Waiting on what emerges next, naturally. - Susan Frybort

We each at one time or another,
fall into a ditch we dug ourselves
and can't easily climb our way out,
see the light, or make it right again.
Not always can anything instantly be done,
except to stay clsoe through the coldest hours
of the lonely night and build a warm fire.
I always felt, a soft abiding presence
caresses the soul to say we're not alone,
and is the counteracting agent
to the ultimate dark hole we fear
called abandonment. - Susan Frybort
