That one.

Be that one. That one who forgives when deep offence has been committed. That one who loves when no one else does. That one who gives kindness to those who are mean. Be that one who looks past the insult, instead seeing the pain that motivated it. That one who shines light upon those who sit in utter darkness. Becasue the impact of being that one runs far and wide. It brings healing to the wounded, joy to the sad, and hope to those in despair. Be that one. - Sheri Eckort

“It’s important to remember that being the light in the darkness doesn’t mean sacrificing your light to the darkness. Forgiving someone doesn’t mean telling them it’s okay that they caused you pain. It means telling yourself it’s okay to let go of the pain, to stop wishing pain on them in return, to heal and move on. Loving the unlovable, being kind to the unkind, and looking past offenses and seeing the hurting human behind the behavior doesn’t mean allowing yourself to be battered and beaten and bruised again and again. It means setting healthy boundaries in relationships. Sometimes that means forgiving but still walking away from a harmful relationship. It means looking beyond yourself and your own needs while still honoring yourself and your own needs. It means loving yourself enough not to turn into an unlovable, unkind, offensive hurting human yourself. Because you matter. Your pain matters. Your peace matters. And don’t let yourself be fooled into believing that your own personal flaws and mistakes and regrets disqualify you from creating a happy life for yourself. Because the secret to loving others despite their imperfections is loving yourself despite yours.” L.R.Knost
