Our children are in our care for such a short time, and then the world will be in their care. Give them a voice. Teach them to care. Tell them the truth. Open their eyes and hearts and minds to the beautiful and brutal world around them — the soul-healing acts of love and generosity and understanding and the heartbreaking acts of hate and greed and fear, the amazing human achievements and the inhumane human suffering.

Let’s raise our children to see and recognize and appreciate the gorgeous differences and the stunning sameness of our shared humanity on this little blue planet we share. Let’s grow children with hearts so full of love and hope and kindness that every step they take out into this wide, hurting world is guided by intention and conviction and compassion.
