Male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. It is preventable. Let's not man up. Let's not tough it out. Let's find true strength instead. let's show our vulnerability. Let's stop faking macho bullshit. let's change. - Matt Haig @twitter
This is so important. We're slowly seeing a safer, more empowered world open up to our women, and we need to make sure this happens for our men as well. It starts by honouring all emotions - sadness, anger, anxiety, guilt, joy, confusion, fear. There are no emotions that don't deserve to be there. The trouble comes when emotions are denied, or, quite literally, depressed - as in, pushed down. All emotions contain important information about what we need more of and less of. When emotions are depressed, so is that wisdom and eventually, so is the person. When those emotions are buried fiercely enough and for long enough, eventually they will push for air. Let's make sure there is no need for any person we know or love to have to hide how they feel. And when we ask, 'How are you?,' let's have the courage to ask it twice when we feel the need to, 'No really, how are you?' - Hey Sigmud
