“The stars shine to remind someone to keep going. When the day is done and heaves its final breath into the shadows, someone runs outside and stretches their gaze as far as they possibly can and tries to seize each glorious fleck of distant fire.
Someone drops to their knees and prays out loud and desperately wishes those majestic balls of light would hear their earthly pleading.
And with tears streaming to the ground, someone raises their arms and spreads determined hands all the way up to heaven.
Every night, someone is plucking one star from that cold, dark sea and carrying its warm flicker of hope into the very next morning.”
