Word for me.. that December that year.. I also had the hardest and I chose to walk away for my own good and for my son.

Random thought before bed that I'd like to explore more: my (arguably) worst attribute when choosing mates is getting attached to the potential I see in them versus the reality of who they actually are.
I wonder how long it will take for this self-inflicted, but absolutely necessary, wound to close. Again I will say that I knew exactly what I was doing when I walked away in December, but it has been the hardest choice I've made as an adult and the most agonizing one.
I should say that this includes the resulting grief from the death of said dream. The hardest part has been accepting that there is literally nothing I can do to change someone else. That the dream was beautiful but ungrounded in reality. That it was more pleasant for me, for the longest time, to stay asleep where the dream still lived instead of the harsh reality of broken promises. - E.S.S. CA
