This blog is a way for me to communicate with web browsing friends all over the world, and will serve as a virtual diary for me to share my perspective on the weird in the world.

Breaking the cycles of familial dysfunction is no easy thing. Because they are deeply rooted ancestral patterns. Because they are socially acceptable ways of being. Because they are reflected in the systems that frame our reality. And perhaps most significantly- because they are deeply familiar to us, habits that call us home. As the conscious healing revolution picks up steam, we have to be mindful of the role that habit plays in perpetuating our unhealthy patterns. Home is where the habit is, for many of us. Even if a behavior has been persistently painful, humans will often continue to engage in it. Because it feels better than the unknown. Because it gives us an odd sense of continuity. Because it connects us energetically to those who came before. Breaking an ancestral cycle requires far more than learning new behaviors. It also requires a courageous willingness to let go of the (dis)comforts of home. - Jeff Brown
