Doors

Doors close all the time.
Disappointments arise.
Walls go up and connections dissolve.
When I feel left out, let me allow love in.
Let me open a window and look out to
remember, I am part of the family that cares.
And when what I long for doesn't come through.
Let me know beyond expectations and witness joy.
Let me see the sunbeams streaming through
the leaves of the unexpected and unnoticed
Let me listen for the soft limitation to open
my heart, to step across the threshold,
where waits the discovery
