Woke is a joke in a world on the edge. Let’s put away our delusions of wokeness, and focus our energies on helping each other survive this global pandemic. Far too many people priding themselves in their (alleged) awakening, while millions of people can barely make ends meet. You want to awaken? Ground yourself in the reality that millions have died from this virus, and that millions more can’t pay their bills. Maslow wasn’t wrong when he drafted the hierarchy of needs. When someone is struggling to survive, the last thing they are thinking about is self-actualization. In those circumstances, woke is a steady job and food on the table. Woke is a paid hydro bill and car insurance. Woke is sleeping well at night, and waking up with hope. - Jeff Brown
